5 Types of Thank You Cards (& what to write in them).

Thank you to the host

The season of holiday gatherings and hosting is upon us. Our homes, as well as the homes of our friends and families, are being filled up with Friendsgiving gatherings, Christmas gift exchanges, and baking parties. Host Thank You’s are a perfect way to spread some holiday cheer and gratitude to those opening their homes to festive gatherings. Below are some meaningful thank you’s to share with your hosts this season:

  • Thank you for welcoming me into your home.

  • Your gathering made me feel touched & included in your family.

  • Your thoughtfulness made for such a celebration.

  • What a joy it is to be in the circles of people you love and serve.

  • New memories were made because of your generosity. Thank you.

Thank you to the gift-giver

We’re approaching the months of gift-giving, providing the opportunity to thank our many gift-givers this season. Whether it’s a small stocking stuffer or a grand holiday gesture, this season allows us for many thank you’s to those thinking of us in their shopping. Here are some thank you messages for the gift-givers:

  • You have an eye for exactly what I need.

  • I see your thoughtfulness and attention to detail in the gift you gave me.

  • This gift will bless me so much in the coming days.

  • You know me so well. Thank you, friend.

Thank you to the coffee date partner

We’re no strangers to busy schedules, so we can see that the value of the time sacrificed to sit down with a friend, co-worker, or internet friend and grab a cup of coffee truly is priceless. Whether it’s a networking session or a dreaming conversation, we have the chance to thank those who give us their time in busy seasons. Next time you go on a coffee date, try following up with a thank you card that says something like this:

  • Our coffee date was the sweetest part of my week.

  • I’m cheering you on in all of the steps of the journey you shared with me.

  • I am so grateful you included me in your day.

  • When days feel heavy, time with you is light. Let’s do it again sometime!

Thank you to the teacher

As the fall semester comes to a close, we can reflect on the ways our teachers have impacted our lives and our children’s lives for the past 5 months. A simple thank you note can change teachers’ unseen effort to seen and appreciated. Try writing this in a thank you note for your child’s teacher (or yours):

  • I see how Abel has grown by having you as his teacher.

  • We are so grateful for your wisdom and knowledge.

  • Thank you for caring for Abel’s heart and mind this school year.

  • Your devotion to your work blesses us incredibly.

Thank you to the friend who always lends a helping hand

A “just because” thank you might just be my favorite kind: a note of appreciation for the friend who always thinks of you, picked up the last-minute babysitting shift so you could go on date night, or grabbed something for you at the grocery store. We’ve all got those friends. We can show them a little extra love with a thank you card that says this:

  • What would I do without a friend like you?

  • Having you as a friend makes everything sweeter.

  • I’m so grateful to have you on my home team.

  • Thank you for bringing me a little extra joy today.
